Summary: This class is a detailed study of Church History as witnessed by the missionaries and martyrs of the Orthodox Church.  For students who have not taken the “Lives of the Saints” course, it will provide them with a review of the meaning of Orthodox sainthood, the purpose and history of relics, and the Angelic creation.  The study of missionaries and martyrs of the Church will cover a period from the Book of Acts and those saints who defined and established the meaning as witnesses to the Faith, leading up to contemporary saints from different continents and periods of history, including the Middle East, America, Asia, Africa, the Russian Revolution, World War II, Communist China and much more.

All materials for this class are provided by the instructor, and there is no text to purchase.  The class experience includes discussions and short videos on all of the topics.  The coursework includes a short midterm paper and a final exam.  There are also open-book quizzes throughout each term.

Only enrolled students can view materials.
