Summary: Intro to Spanish is a light introduction to about 70% of the Spanish 1 topics but does not count as Spanish 1. The class requires completion, correction, and submission of 3-5 pages work per week, rather than mastery. Each student presents on 2 assigned Spanish countries. Intro to Spanish gives a low-stress introduction to Spanish speaking, geography and language.

Intro to Spanish allows students a survey of basic Spanish topics with minimal homework of 3-5 pages to complete, correct, and submit. An ideal course for students that may want a low-intensity introduction before Spanish 1. 

By the end of this course, students will:

* Have researched and presented on 2 Spanish speaking countries’ most popular foods, sports, tourist destinations, and basic statistics… and learned about most the other countries through peer presentations.

 * Learn basic conversational topics like weather, favorite sports, clothes, telling time, physical and personality descriptions, hobbies, and food. 

*  Actively participate in class, practice charades/Simon says to demonstrate vocabulary, offer practice sentences for live feedback (we learn more from mistakes than correct first tries), and turning in the Participation prompt after class, along with pages assigned.
