Summary: This course offers an introduction to the processes, materials, and techniques used in knitting. This will provide both a hobby and a means of making useful household and charity knitting items. The course will also give students a brief, light introduction to the history of knitting and the various cultural knitting traditions around the world.
Prerequisites: To be successful, students should be able to read independently; follow directions carefully; access the internet for knitting videos and patterns; and spend time practicing knitting every day.
Required materials: Students will need to purchase or have access to both straight and circular knitting needles, wool yarn, a tapestry needle, and stitch markers. Please see the syllabus for detailed information on purchasing these items.
